This is a project I think is particularly interesting as a means of detecting kinematic artifacts from a 3D scene. The team of researchers at the University of California, Berkeley, has developed a system that can detect kinematic artifacts based on the motion of an object.
The system is basically a computer program that creates a 3D model of an object, and then uses this model to predict the position and orientation of any other 3D objects in the scene based on any changes in the object’s shape. This process is repeated for every object in the scene, and the system then determines whether or not the object in question is a kinematic artifact.
